Current position: Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Puerto Rico, Founder and Director of LRS Consulting Services, LLC., and Senior Research Associate at the University of Cincinnati.
Brief Bio: My research follows two main lines. First, the use of cultural expert testimony in Latin America and the U.S., from which I published the first English-language book on how this legal tool is employed across Latin America. Second, I research international migration in Central America and the Caribbean. I have also served as cultural expert witness in criminal and asylum cases.
Penn State’s Demography Program: My dual PhD in Anthropology and Demography is fairly rare and has opened a lot of doors for me. In the demography program I was exposed to spatial training and numerous statistical techniques, had the opportunity to research, present at national and international conferences, and publish.
