Program and Year of Graduation: Sociology and Demography, Penn State (2007)
Current Position: Professor and Graduate Coordinator, Human Development and Family Science, Oklahoma State University
Brief Bio : I am interested in fertility from a reproductive career approach, considering how prior reproductive experiences impact future plans and outcomes. My research focuses on biomedical fertility barriers such as infertility, undesired sterilization, and pregnancy loss as well as structural barriers such as work, policies, and finances; attitudes about parenthood and pregnancy plans; and various consequences of reproductive experiences including birth outcomes as well as psychosocial well-being. Though much of my work to date has focused on adults, I am currently studying reproductive and contraceptive attitudes and behaviors among teens as well. Most recently, I am the PI of a 5-year NIH-funded study on teen rapid repeat birth beginning in Fall, 2016.
Penn State’s Demography Program: The professional development opportunities provided by the Demography program are unparalleled, and I am confident that the dual-title degree helped me secure my position at OSU.
